Homicide-Suicide Reported In Clark County

The Clark County Sheriff's Office says 56-year-old Robert Rowland killed 84-year-old Vernon Snider before turning the gun on himself.

AMBOY, WA — The deaths of two men in Amboy last weekend was deemed a homicide-suicide, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner, who on Tuesday also released the names of the men involved.

Investigators from the Clark County Sheriff's Office around 7 p.m. June 22 were dispatched to a home located at 24707 N.E. 419th St. in the city of Amboy. When they arrived, they found two men who both head wounds apparently caused by a handgun.

On June 25, the Clark County Medical Examiner identified the men as 84-year-old Vernon W. Snider and 56-year-old Robert E. Rowland. Snider reportedly owned the home.

Investigators at this time reportedly believe Rowland shot Snider multiple times in the head before turning the gun on himself.

According to The Oregonian/Oregon Live, a Clark County Sheriff's sergeant said Rowland at one time dated Snider's daughter, though it's unclear whether that was a factor in the incident.
