Thurston Co. Cat Serial Killer Reward Now $53,000

With 13 cats dead since February near Olympia, animal rights groups across the nation have pitched in to find the killer.

OLYMPIA, WA - The reward for the capture of a cat serial killer stalking the Olympia area has ballooned to $53,000 thanks to donations from the public and animal rights groups. Monroe-based Pasado's Safe Haven has also set up a web page to collect donations.

Thirteen cats have been found mutilated in Thursday County since February. The cats have all been found in public places, and were all mutilated in a similar manner.

Olympia police and the Thurston County Sheriff's Office have formed a task force to catch the killer. The day the group met for the first time, Aug. 31, the 13th cat was found dead.

Groups including Peace 4 Animals, the Seattle Humane Society, PETA, and the Human Society of the United States have all chipped in for the reward.
