One of the Americans killed in a terror attack at a Kenyan military base Sunday was a man from Washington state. KING 5 reports Dustin Harrison lived in Arizona, but he was raised in Federal Way and Auburn, and graduated from Auburn High School in 1990. Harrison's wife, Hope, told a Phoenix news station he worked as a contract pilot for the U.S. Department of Defense at the Manda Bay Airfield, used by American counter-terrorism forces.

The Associated Press reports three Americans died during Sunday's attack, which was carried out by Al-Shabab, an al-Qaida linked group. A Kenyan military spokesman said five of the attackers were killed.

Harrison's wife told KOLD-TV a public memorial service would be planned. A GoFundMe page for the family had raised more than $16,000 by Wednesday afternoon.

According to a post on the fundraising website, Dustin is survived by Hope, three sons, and a 2-year-old daughter.

"Dustin was a contracted pilot and was set to come home this Friday January 10th. Hope and Dustin found one another and have been married for 3 years. They were each other’s soulmate, the love of her life. Dustin was such a sweet soul, quiet but courageous. And will forever be our hero."

In a Facebook post Sunday, Hope Harrison called her husband a silent hero who would never be forgotten.
