Boeing Technical Workers' Ratify Contract by Wide Margin

The vote by 7,400 Boeing technical workers on a four-year contract already rejected once was overwhelmingly ratified by the workers last night, according to a report in Reuters, staving off a possible strike.

The Society of Professional Engineering Employees’ in Aerospace (SPEEA) technical unit split with Boeing engineers, who earlier approved the contract that would replace pensions with a 401(k) retirement plan/

In an Associated Press report posted on KIRO News, the company was quoted as telling the technical workers: "It is time for all of us to come together and focus on the challenges facing the company.”

The SPEEA bargaining unit is making no recommendation on the offer, Boeing’s “best and final,” but has told the technical workers another rejection would likely mean a strike.

Many of the technical employees work at Boeing's Renton and Everett facilities.
