Certify Your Backyard or Business as Wildlife Habitat

The designation is awarded by the National Wildlife Federation.

Get your backyard, balcony, patio, business, faith organization, or school certified as a wildlife habitat with the National Wildlife Federation.

Your certification can help Edmonds stay on the national map as a certified Community Wildlife Habitat City and also help build well-needed wildlife corridors.

The application costs $20. To qualify, your outdoor space must have food sources (native plants, seeds, fruits, nuts, berries, or nectar), water sources (birdbath, pond, water garden, stream), places for cover (thicket, rockpile, birdhouse), and places to raise young (dense shrubs, vegetation, nesting box, pond). The space must also utilize sustainable gardening techniques, such as mulch, compost, and rain gardens.
