Edmonds City Council Seeks Student Representatives For 2020-21
"Student representatives provide an important voice in our community," said Councilmember Laura Johnson.
EDMONDS, WA—The school year is just around the corner and while classes remain virtual this fall, there are ways for students to be actively involved in their community. The City of Edmonds is looking for energetic and committed student volunteers to participate as student representatives for the 2020-2021 academic year.
For the position of student Representative on council, the student will be appointed for one year and attends Edmonds City Council meetings from Sept. 1, 2020 to Aug. 31, 2021. The council has four council meetings per month and are held on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.
For the position of Youth Commissioners, members are appointed to a two-year term beginning October 1st and ending September 30th. Graduating seniors will be appreciated as they leave the commission in June. The commission meets September through June from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month.

Students need to live within the Edmonds city limits, and must be entering grades 11th through 12th, or be of equivalent age if not enrolled in a traditional school program. Students do not have to attend high school in the Edmonds School District.
“Student representatives provide an important voice in our community; we look forward to reviewing a diverse and enthusiastic set of candidates for these positions," said Councilmember Laura Johnson who serves as council liaison to the Youth Commission.
