City of Everett patrol officers discovered a body this morning in Elk Creek and believe it could be missing camper Michael Antonelli.

City of Everett watershed patrol officers discovered a body this morning in Elk Creek and believe it could be missing camper Michael Antonelli.

The body was found about 100 yards downstream from Antonelli’s campsite. The 37-year-old Edmonds man went missing after a trip to Boulder Lake last weekend.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office's technical water rescue team are now at Elk Creek to retrieve the body and bring it out.

Antonelli left Edmonds on Saturday with his dog, planning to camp for the weekend and return Monday evening. When he failed to return home, his girlfriend notified authorities.

On Tuesday, Sheriff's Office deputies located his campsite near the Boulder Lake trail head. Antonelli's tent was set up near a 20-foot cliff drop off, with Elk Creek below. Upon examining the terrain, the deputies determined the ground may have given way when Antonelli got too close to the cliff edge. They suspected he may have fallen into the creek, which is running high and fast right now.

Deputies have not found Antonelli's dog, a 5-year-old catahoula leopard hound named Katie.
