According to police, an employee at a local store noticed a woman shoplifting early Wednesday morning, but when he tried to confront her, she pulled out a handgun on him and took off. The employee then called 911 and Edmonds Police started to search the area for the escaped woman.

Shortly afterwards, a student officer found her dodging through traffic and running across highway 99. She was arrested shortly afterwards. Police say they also found her weapon, and quickly determined it was a simple BB gun that just looked like a real firearm.
