Firefighters, ATF Investigating Lynnwood Blaze That Killed 2 Kids
A brother and sister were killed in a fire that tore through a Lynnwood townhouse Sunday afternoon.

LYNNWOOD, WA — Snohomish County fire investigators are working with the ATF to learn what sparked a fire that killed two children at a Lynnwood townhouse Sunday afternoon. On Monday, the victims were identified as a 7-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl. Q13 News reports the children were siblings and visiting a relative at the apartment. A third child, an 11-year-old boy, escaped before firefighters arrived, along with a man and a woman.
According to South County Fire, almost four dozen firefighters were on scene at the peak of the fire. A large column of black smoke was visible in the area, with flames pouring from windows on both floors. Investigators said the apartment where the fire started was heavily damaged, and units on both sides suffered heavy smoke and water damage. Fifteen residents were displaced. South County Fire, the Snohomish County Fire Marshal's Office, Lynnwood Fire, and the ATF will determine the fire's cause.
