Free Emerald City Trolley Service Coming To Edmonds In August
Emerald City Trolley and the city of Edmonds recently reached an agreement to bring the free trolley to downtown and the waterfront.
EDMONDS, WA — All aboard! The free Edmonds Holiday Trolley will be in service throughout August, thanks to a new agreement between the city and Seattle-based Emerald City Trolley.
According to city officials, bringing the holiday trolley to Edmonds for more than just Christmas had been a wish-list item for some time. After weeks of conversations between the trolley company and the city, an agreement was recently made for Emerald City Trolley to make two stops in Downtown Edmonds and two stops in the Edmonds Waterfront District on all five Saturdays in August, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
"I'm thrilled that the EDC, Downtown merchants, Port of Edmonds officials, and others have come together this year to make this August trolley service a reality," Edmonds Economic Development and Community Services Director Patrick Doherty said in a statement. "This will be a pilot project to test the case for considering on-going trolley service in the future, for both upcoming holiday seasons and throughout our peak Summer season."

Running on a 20-minute schedule, the Emerald City Trolley's August service will stop just west of Salish Sea Brewing Company and in front of the Edmonds Theater downtown, then near the Boat Lift at the Port of Edmonds and in front of Cascadia Art Museum at Salish Crossing on the waterfront.
One additional stop in front of Walnut Street Coffee will be added on days when utility work along Dayton Street blocks eastbound traffic, officials said.

"After experiencing the success of our holiday trolley, as a local shop owner and member of the Ed! Board, I'm thrilled to see the trolley return for a summer route this August," Pam Stuller, owner of Walnut Street Coffee, said. "It links our charming downtown and amazing waterfront, giving locals and visitors another reason to come explore Edmonds."
Visitors to the Edmonds Summer Markets and other weekend events, as well as visitors on the Puget Sound Express whale-watching boats, will all have another option for travel and — subsequently — parking, officials said.
