A Taste of Edmonds Begins Friday

In addition to food vendors, the festival will provide a number of activities and musical entertainment.

Hungry? Save your appetite for this weekend. A Taste of Edmonds kicks off Friday and runs through Sunday. To get yourself (and your stomach) ready for the culinary festival, below are full event details and the entertainment line up.

Who: The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce presents
What: 29th annual A Taste Of Edmonds
When: Aug. 12-14, 2011 (Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
Where: Civic Playfield, 310 6th Ave. N, Edmonds
Admission: $3 (12 and under free)


Food Booths: 40 food booths selling a wide range of tasty options, including soba noodles, shrimp and scallop crepes, halibut fish tacos, crab and shrimp chowder, wedding cake-flavored shaved ice, blackened salmon, burgers, kettle corn, and deep fried Snickers bars.

Returning vendors from Edmonds include Scotty’s Northwest (serving blackened salmon, shrimp Caesar, and seafood chowder) and Kafe Neo (serving lamb, chicken, caesar or vegetable gyros, hummus, and baklava).

From Seattle, Crepealicious will prepare a variety of crepes, including chicken, artichoke, seafood, chocolate turtle and cinnamon. A vendor from Hughes Springs, Texas, Jeremy Westmoreland, returns with classic fair food, such as corn dogs, nachos, and deep fried Snickers bars.

A Taste of Edmonds will also feature several new vendors, including Demetri’s Woodstone Taverna of Edmonds and Pagliacci Pizza of Seattle.

Arts and Crafts Booths: More than 70 quality vendors offering original hand-crafted work, including jewelry, art, photography, clothing, pottery, glass, leather items and many other crafts.

Kids’ Area: Inflatables, pony rides, rock wall, a giant slide, model hydroplane racing, Woodland Park Zoo’s dino display, face painting, free craft activities, and booths that cater to children.

Entertainment: Three stages of entertainment
• The Beer Garden Stage sponsored by Budweiser and welcomed by KISS 106.1 will feature such bands as The Afrodisiacs, Randy Hansen,
The Spazmatics, The Beatniks, VANITY (a Las Vegas dance band), Underride, Whiskey River and Shane Cobane as Elvis.
• The Frontier Communications Main Stage is welcomed by KOMO News Radio and will have The Smithereens (“A Girl Like You,”
“Blood and Roses”) Star Anna and The Laughing Dogs, No Rules featuring members of the Sonics, British Export, The Halyards and the
NW Rivals.
• The Kids’ Stage is welcomed by the new 94.1 KMPS and will feature artists including J.P. Patches, Buck and Elizabeth, Kid’s Karaoke,
Reptile Isle and Naomi’s Musical Dream (a salute to Disney).

Free Shuttle: Coldwell Banker Bain Realty of Edmonds will be making it easy to visit A Taste by dropping people off at the festival entrance on 7th Avenue. Parking and shuttle are free. The buses will depart and return to Edmonds Woodway High School every 15 minutes, beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Beer Garden Reunions on Aug. 13, beginning at 4 p.m. Meadowdale High School Class of 2001, Edmonds Woodway High School Class
of 1991, and Lynnwood High School Class of 1981.

Special Attractions:
• Fair Rewards will have a special kiosk. Participants can log on to computers and receive discounts from participating vendors, along with
free gifts.
• The new 94.1 KMPS will be live on site from the Kids’ Area Friday 4-6 p.m. with Tony Thomas. There will be free face painting for kids
while Tony is on the air.
• Black Pine Spas will have their 60-foot-by-20-foot interactive display on site, featuring the latest in home spa innovation.
* Tulalip Resort Casino and Quilceda Creek Casino will be on-site to spread the luck. Check out the prizes and give-aways.
• Miss Washington USA and Miss Washington Teen USA contestants will visit Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. to sign autographs and
answer questions.
• Washington’s Lottery will be on site selling favorite games and will have “second chance” drawings all three days of the festival.
• Enjoy a glass of wine in a relaxed atmosphere in the wine garden and learn how to play the French ball game petanque.
• Woodland Park Zoo will have a display promoting its “Dinosaurs. Real Close.” exhibit.
• KOMO News Radio will have a prize wheel where guests can stop by and try their luck at winning some great prizes.
• Verizon Wireless Show Car Tour will give festival guests a “Real Indy Car Pit” experience by racing the clock to change the tires on the
world’s fastest race cars.
• A Taste of Edmonds will offer more covered dining areas this year.
