Help Decide Salaries For Edmonds City Council, Mayor

The Edmonds Salary Commission is meeting to set elected officials' pay, the commissioners wants citizen feedback.

EDMONDS, WA — The Edmonds Salary Commission meets every other year to set salaries and benefits for the mayor and City Council members. The 2019 public hearing for that process is coming up soon, and the Commission is looking for feedback from citizens about how much pay should be adjusted.

Right now, Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling earns $125,935, and each City Council member gets $12,000 plus about $8,700 in benefits. Earling will not return to office next year, but Council members Mike Nelson (Position 2) and Neil Tibbott (Position 7) made it through the August primary to compete for his seat.

The Edmonds mayor salary has increased by about 9 percent since 2013, but was at about the same rate of $115,000 between 2013 and 2016. The $12,000 City Council base pay hasn't changed since 2013, although the value of their benefits has increased from about $6,800.
