HOV Violators Be Warned: WSP Coming For You

Soon, Washington State Patrol will put extra patrols on local highways to look for HOV dummies.

EDMONDS, WA - You know who you are, HOV scofflaws. Either you flaunt the rules and drive all alone in the HOV lane (even if it's just for a mile or two!), or you do something more stupid and put a dummy in your passenger seat.

Consider this your warning: extra Washington State Patrols will be out on local highways soon looking for you.

A special HOV-violator emphasis runs Sept. 10 to 14. The emphasis will span Puget Sound, from Pierce County through King County and into southern Snohomish County. According to WSP spokesman Trooper Rick Johnson, there's a problem with repeat HOV offenders.
