Median Home Prices Up 16 Percent in Snohomish County

The median price of homes sold last month was $291,000, compared to $251,111 a year ago.

Snohomish County's housing market is heating up this summer, where sales are up 11 percent from last year and median prices continue to rise.

According to a monthly report from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service (NWMLS), 1,141 homes were sold in the county for July, compared to 1,029 a year ago. The median sale price was $291,000 last month in Snohomish County, up from $284,900 in June. Prices are up about 16 percent from July 2012, when the median sale price was $251,111.

In Southwest Snohomish County, last month's median price was $288,800, up 11 percent from a year ago.

NWMLS, which includes local real estate agents and brokers, has said rising prices and higher interest rates may be frustrating some buyers and noted the market's rebound could give some sellers "unrealistic expectations."
