Memorial Day: What's Closed, What's Open

The day honors the men and women who have served in the U.S. military.

Memorial Day is Monday, May 30; here is a list of what’s open and what government offices are closed.

If you're planning to travel, check out the Washington State Department of Transportation web pages to plan your route. You can expect heavy traffic on Friday and Monday particularly along I-90 Snoqualmie Pass, US 2 Stevens Pass, Interstate 5 near the U.S./Canadian border and I-5 between Olympia and Tacoma.

City of Edmonds is closed.

All Sno-Isle Libraries, including the Edmonds Library, are closed Monday.

Edmonds School District: Closed Monday, classes will resume May 31.

Snohomish County government: Closed.

Community Transit: No bus service on Monday.

King County Transfer Stations: Open.

State of Washington: Closed.

State liquor stores: Most will be open. The one in will be closed.

Washington State Ferries: All routes will operate on a normal schedule, including the Edmonds/Kingston route. Expect heavy traffic and long lines westbound Thursday evening, Friday afternoon and evening, and Saturday morning, and eastbound on Monday. Consider traveling outside of peak times to avoid the longest waits.

Federal government (including the U.S. Postal Service): Closed

Banks: Many, if not most, will be closed.

Express delivery companies: FedEx and UPS will be open.
