On Saturday, Edmonds Police officers received reports of a domestic disturbance in the 23400 block of 78th Ave W.  They found a 24-year old man running barefoot away from the home and yelling for help.  The man told officers that his 58-year-old roommate attacked him with a machete during an argument, causing lacerations on his upper left arm and back.

A witness told police that the alleged attacker was still inside the residence, armed with a machete, and intoxicated. As officers approached the front door, the man emerged carrying an alcoholic drink. He was promptly taken into custody and booked into jail on assualt charges.

Officers recovered the machete from inside the home. Its blade measured 22 ½ inches in length.

Arrest of Assault Suspect

Last Friday evening, two Edmonds boys were playing at elementary school in the 9600 block of 220th St. SW when they saw a woman wielding a knife. The boys told police that the woman raised a fixed blade knife over her head and yelled, “I’m gonna kill you guys.” The boys then rode their bicycles to a nearby church and asked an employee there to call the police. The employee described the boys as “panicked.”

Edmonds Police officers, upon searching the area, located a 21-year-old woman matching the suspect’s description. She was taken into custody and transported first to a local hospital for evaluation, and then to Snohomish County Jail.

The woman admitted to officers that she had been armed with a fixed blade knife but denied threatening the boys.  However, she stated that earlier that evening she had been walking when two other boys called her a “zombie.” She said that a short time later, she noticed the two reported victims and called out to them because she thought she knew them. She then tossed the knife over a fence into blackberry bushes, the woman said. Police have not yet found the knife.

Robbery

On Friday morning, the owner of Papa Smoke called Edmonds Police. When they arrived at his store, at 22315 Highway 99, he told officers that he'd been robbed by a man with a knife.

Earlier that morning, the store owner said, a white male approximately 40-years-old and 6 feet tall came into the shop. The man also wore a dark jacket, but since the store owner was nervous and never looked him in the eye, he was not certain if he'd be able to identify the man at a later time.

The suspect held a silver blade knife and demanded cash. He took a small amount of cash from the store owner and then ran from the main entrance of the business and proceeded north on foot. The armed robber has not yet been apprehended. The robbery remains under investigation. Edmonds Police ask anyone with information regarding this crime to call
