Police Chase Through Lynnwood Ends In 2 Arrests: Sheriff

An Edmonds man and a Seattle man were arrested following a 7-mile police chase through Lynnwood early Tuesday.

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, WA — An early morning police chase that began in Lynnwood Tuesday ended with a crash east of Mountlake Terrace and the arrest of two men, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's officials are reportedly still looking for one other individual who was let out of the suspect vehicle at some point during the chase.

The arrested individuals — a 25-year-old man from Edmonds and a 40-year-old man from Seattle — have not been identified at this time.

The chase reportedly began in Lynnwood, near the State Route 525 and Highway 99 interchange, around 3:30 a.m. May 7. According to the sheriff's office, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on what he believed was an impaired driver, but the driver opted instead to flee south onto Interstate 5.

Speeding south, at one point in the northbound lanes of I-5, the fleeing driver eluded deputies until around the 23700-block of Cedar Way in Mountlake Terrace, roughly 7 miles from where the chase began.

Deputies reportedly used the Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) to end the chase, with the suspect vehicle coming to rest awkwardly in a ditch off the roadway.

After the chase ended, the 25-year-old driver fled the scene, leaving the 40-year-old passenger behind to get arrested. It's unclear when the third suspect was let out of the car.

After fleeing, the 25-year-old suspect allegedly broke into two nearby homes that were occupied before a K9 team tracked him west over Lyon Creek to the 23800-block of 44th Avenue West, where he was caught attempting to break into a car.

After taking the suspects into custody, deputies learned the suspects' car was previously reported stolen out of Snohomish County.
