'Alternative' National Parks Twitter Account May Be Based At Mt. Rainier

ENUMCLAW, WA - A Twitter account that calls itself "The Unofficial 'Resistance' team of U.S. National Park Service" may be based at Mt. Rainier National Park.

In response to a question, the account tweeted that fans could come visit them at Mt. Rainier. They say "We are in Washington" - but it's unclear if that's D.C. or the real Washington. Patch.com has reached out to the account to clarify.

The "alt" National Parks Twitter account comes as other real National Parks accounts have been censored or shut down.

Yesterday, the Twitter account for Badlands National Park tweeted out a string of facts about climate change, which were later deleted. However, the National Park Service told CBS News that the park's account was "compromised" by a former employee, and that's why it removed the climate change-themed tweets.

The National Parks also tweeted about the size of the crowd at Donald Trump's inauguration on Friday. That resulted in a ban on tweets from all park service accounts until Monday.
