Fish Fire Burns 150 Acres Outside Enumclaw
State fire crews are still working to contain the flames from the ground and air. State Route 410 remains closed.

ENUMCLAW, WA — The Fish Fire, burning about six miles east of the city of Enumclaw, is approximately 150 acres in size, state fire officials said Wednesday.

According to the state Department of Natural Resources, flames are burning in thick timber, and firefighting efforts are underway from the ground and air.

Figures on containment were not immediately available, but officials were optimistic about progress. State Route 410 remains closed in both directions between mileposts 29 and 31.

In Pierce County, the Sumner Grade fire has burned at least 800 acres and is 20 percent contained. According to fire meteorologist Josh Clark, that fire is the second-largest in Pierce County since the 1990s. Evacuations remained in place Wednesday for areas of Bonney Lake, and in Graham, where a separate fire destroyed five homes and 10 outbuildings.
