ENUMCLAW, WA — A man drowned near the Green River Gorge Monday morning, just 48 hours after a woman drowned in the same area.
King County rescue teams responded to reports of a man who fell in the water and disappeared shortly before noon Monday. The sheriff's marine unit, along with dive teams from Renton and Enumclaw, searched for the man with some aerial assistance from a local news chopper.
Fire crews said the man's body was later found a half-mile downstream.

Monday's drowning was the second deadly incident in the same area over the weekend. KOMO News reports one woman drowned east of Black Diamond on Saturday, and another woman was rescued. The sheriff's office said the women were roommates and had been hiking before they fell in the river.
Unfortunate outcome to the River Rescue Response. Valiant effort by all the agencies involved. Our condolences to the friends and family of the victim. https://t.co/Cgq8qwdTLQ
