Mudslide Will Keep Enumclaw-Area Road Closed [Update]
A section of road near Flaming Geyser State Park was closed Monday morning due to a landslide.

BLACK DIAMOND, WA - A mudslide closed a section of Green Valley Road near Flaming Geyser State Park early Monday morning, according to the King County Sheriff's office. According to the county, large trees fell across the roadway.
Around 2 p.m. Monday, King County reported that the road would remain closed for the remainder of Monday "at a minimum."

The entire Puget Sound region is under heightened landslide risk right now because of receny heavy rains. The eastern Pierce County area near Enumclaw is at "high" risk, according to state Department of Natural Resources forecasts. The entirety of King County west of the Cascades is at "moderate" risk for landslides.

Forecasts indicate rain will return later on Monday, and up to a one-quarter of an inch could fall on Tuesday, further increasing landslide risk.
