Plateau Rebels Cheer Tryouts This Weekend In Enumclaw
Between 60 and 70 kids will be brought onto the Plateau Rebels cheer team for the 2019-2020 season, which begins in August.

ENUMCLAW, WA - Fresh off their first place finish at the Jamz Youth Nationals cheer competition in Las Vegas, the Plateau Rebels Cheer group will host tryouts for the 2019-2020 team this weekend in Enumclaw.
With room for 60 to 70 kids on two teams, both boys and girls age 5 through 17 years old are invited to tryout between 9 and 11 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9 and 10, at the Enumclaw Expo Center, located at 45224 284th Ave. SE.
"Plateau Rebels is a youth competitive cheer team but has been said to be a family," Cheer Coach Patricia Kurtz told Patch on Wednesday. "The time these boys and girls and their families spend together helps build a bond and makes our program successful!"

Established in 2018, the Plateau Rebels in January took first place at their first national competition, performing at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Now coaches Carrie Crane, Bri McMillen, Melanie McNally, and Kurtz hope to repeat that success for the group's second season.
While the nonprofit cheer team is based in Enumclaw, interested kids from throughout the region are invited to try out, Kurtz said. And although the tryouts are competitive — meaning not all who tryout will actual make the team — the cost to participate is kept relatively low through group-organized fundraisers.

"Plateau Rebels is a program that teaches kids responsibility and commitment, and it promotes a healthy competitive environment," Kurtz said. "We focus on building confidence and helping our athletes become leaders by finding their voice."
The cheer season officially runs from August 2019 through January 2020, with practices held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Enumclaw Expo Center.
