Steve Le Penske Receives Recognition

The Enumclaw photographer is sending three works to the Northwest International Exhibition of Photography during the Washington State Fair in Puyallup.

By Susan Etchey

Congratulations to photographic artist Steve LePenske of Enumclaw! Three of his exceptional works have been accepted to exhibit in the prestigious Northwest International Exhibition of Photography September 6 – 22, 2013 at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup. “We are fortunate to have  some of Le Penske’s works on exhibit at Studio 54 Furniture and Art Gallery and we are so proud of his latest accomplishment,” says arts advocate Susan Etchey. “It is such an honor to be selected in this highly competitive juried show considered to be one of the leading international exhibitions in the world.”

This exhibition, established in 1937, has received recognition by the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and thousands of photographers enter the show in hopes of being chosen to exhibit, but only 100 or so actually make it. “Being juried into a show like this is like winning an award for excellence,” says Etchey.

Although shown for only 17 days, the photography exhibit is viewed by a million or more people who come to see the latest and best in photographic art. “I entered four images which is the maximum and  three of the four were accepted for display,” says Le Penske. Many Enumclaw residents know this wonderful photographer as an active member of Rotary. He, and his wife Judi, have volunteered many hours over the years to the betterment of  Enumclaw. But La Penske is modest about his accomplishments.

The facts are the fourth image received a score of 14 points and the cut off was 15 points. Judging is rigorous as is the entire pages long application process. Here is the list of images that were accepted and the score that they received; Green River Gorge 15 pts., Lower Lewis River Falls 16 pts., and Spray Park 17 pts.
