Supermoon 2017: Will Weather Let University Place See It?
Pacific Northwest weather might prevent us from seeing the 2017 supermoon, the only one happening this year.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA - The only supermoon of 2017 will happen Sunday night, but us Pacific Northwest residents might never know it. A supermoon is the closest the moon gets to Earth, making our planet's satellite appear huge in the sky and nearly 17 percent brighter.
We can always hope for a weather miracle, but our viewing chances aren't looking so great, or at least not totally clear. Here's the weekend forecast from the National Weather Service:

Saturday: Showers. High near 46. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday Night: Showers, mainly before 4am. Low around 39. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 44. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
