Canterwood Building Year-Round Tennis Club

From ClubCorp: Canterwood Golf & Country Club, a member of the ClubCorp family of clubs, announces that construction is underway on its new Indoor Tennis Club, the expansion of four additional dome-covered tennis courts that will be heated throughout the off season – from November through April – so that members can enjoy year-round tennis. The project, which will bring the total to eight tennis courts available to members plus new tennis programming, is set be completed fall 2018.

“This is an exciting time for Canterwood,” said Brent Cohen, Canterwood general manager. “These improvements are going to add value to membership. We will soon be offering the only covered tennis in Gig Harbor, allowing us to expand our tennis programming and host tennis tournaments throughout the year.” Year-round tennis at the club will include tennis leagues for men, women, mixed, juniors and seniors, as well USTA teams, clinics, drills, camps and lessons.

“The members are excited. Tennis already is big at the club, but with the addition of the new courts, play throughout the year and more tournaments, Canterwood will be the tennis hub of the community,” said Tom Heacox, chairman of the club’s Board of Governors.

The centerpiece of Gig Harbor, Canterwood Golf & Country Club features a Robert Muir Graves–designed 18-hole 7,175-yard championship golf course that is among the top-rated courses in Washington. Additional amenities include casual and upscale dining, state-of-the-art tennis facilities, outdoor swimming pool, fitness center and private event space that can accommodate up to 300.
