Swim with fish again helps fill food bank shelves

This year marks the 12th annual swim across Colvos Passage known as Swim with Fish. For six years now the swim has been a charitable event providing nearly $100,000 in the history of the event to help feed community members in need. This year alone the swim has raised $26,877 for the Peninsula Fish Food Bank. Joanne Kirby was the first one to cover the mile wide channel in 28:32. There were a total on 21 swimmers participating in this privately held fundraiser. The swim started in 2006 when Peter Bortel and Steve Rees challenged each other to swim the 1 mile in 50 degree water.
