Construction Forces Purdy Bridge Lane Closure
The bridge will be reduced to one, alternating late of traffic for much of the day Tuesday and Wednesday.
GIG HARBOR, WA — Drivers will probably want to avoid relying on the Purdy Bridge if possible this week.
Tuesday and Wednesday, crews with the Washington State Department of Transportation will be working to shore up a nearby embankment, which will force a nearby lane closure that could in turn cause some significant traffic backups.
According to the Gig Harbor Police Department, a construction project will cut the bridge to just one, alternating lane of traffic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.

The repairs are part of an ongoing effort to restore the Purdy Bridge. WSDOT has also announced plans to completely close the bridge for repairs for several weekends this summer. When that does happen, travelers will have to take a five-mile detour around Henderson Bay. The exact timing of that closure has yet to be released.
