It's Round 2 of Gig Harbor's perennial back-and-forth to protect views of the harbor while allowing development.
Tonight, the Gig Harbor City Council will discuss proposed amendments to its books regarding building and height requirements in downtown.
The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., at the Gig Harbor Civic Center, 3510 Grandview St.
Earlier this month, city officials conducted a public hearing on the proposed amendments, so tonight's meeting won't call for public testimony. However, city leaders will consider the input residents have given so far and are being asked to "provide direction" on the amendments, according to a City Council report.
The proposed amendments for Downtown Gig Harbor include allowing owners to build larger buildings, remodel or tear down nonconforming buildings and increase the buildings' height limit to allow flat-roof, two-story buildings
