Gig Harbor Arts Commission Hosting Free Social Media Workshop in May

Local social media experts will be sharing ideas and time-saving tips on Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

Gig Harbor-area artists, non-profit organizations and local small businesses can learn how to use Facebook and other social media as a marketing tool at a free workshop on Monday, May 6. The workshop will take place at the Gig Harbor Civic Center at 5:30 p.m.

Tracy Warren, author of Six Word Lessons for Successful Media and 100 Lessons to Grow Your Business Using Social Mediawill be sharing practical ideas and time-saving tips on how to grow your customer base, sell your artwork and market your organization on Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

Gig Harbor Marketing Director Laureen Lund, will discuss her own social media strategies and show how these can be applied to local non-profit organizations, small businesses and even individual artists. Lund was selected as the Tacoma-Pierce County Tourism Professional of the Year in 2011 for her many successful marketing campaigns.

Workshop attendees should already have a Facebook business account to benefit from this workshop.

This is the second in a series of workshops presented by the Gig Harbor Arts Commission. The first event, “Making Friends with the Media” featured seven representatives from local newspapers, radio and TV stations. Future workshops are being planned on such topics as website development, video promotions and others. All workshops are free and are geared to Gig Harbor-area artists, non-profit organizations and small businesses.
