Firefighters have contained the brush fire along SR-16 before it could reach any structures or power lines.
GIG HARBOR, WA — Firefighters have successfully contained a brush fire along State Route 16 south of Gig Harbor.
Gig Harbor Fire first reported the blaze just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, calling it a medium-sized fire burning along SR-16's westbound lanes and down the Cushman trail.

However, just about half an hour after first reporting the fire, crews had already managed to get the blaze completely contained. Gig Harbor Police say that's fortunate, because if it had expanded it could've turned very dangerous in that area.

Good work by our friends and partners @GigHarborFire for jumping quickly on a brush fire along SR-16 at Olympic Drive. They contained it quickly and prevented what could have been a really bad situation. pic.twitter.com/ubiQv3Y0Vr
