Gig Harbor Mayor Kuhn Signs Proclamation Related To Special Use Permits For Outdoor Retail

The City Council will be asked to ratify this proclamation at its June 8 City Council Meeting.

Encroachment permits are still required for use of R-O-W, in order for the City to review safety protocols/measures and require appropriate liability insurance.

This measure will assist local businesses wishing to safely reopen and sell products consistent with the Governor’s "Safe Start-Stay Healthy" proclamation by removing barriers to commerce. Businesses will be able to utilize the reduced Special Use Permit regulations and fee-free encroachment permit if the following criteria are met: 1) Physical location in Gig Harbor, 2) Valid Gig Harbor business license, and 3) Legally existing use.
