Gig Harbor Now Accepting Tourism Grant Applications

Tourism-related projects and events can receive up to $50,000 through the city's Lodging Tax grants.

GIG HARBOR, WA — If you've got an upcoming event or project that you're hoping will draw big crowds to Gig Harbor, the city wants to help make that happen.

Tuesday, the City of Gig Harbor opened applications to receive Lodging Tax grants for any tourism-related projects. Applicants just have to be non-profits running events or installations that will attract tourists to the area, and the events have to happen in 2021. Earlier recipients of these Lodging Tax grants include the Harbor History Museum, Gig Harbor Film Festival, and the Downtown Waterfront Alliance’s Waterfront Farmers’ Market.

Recipients can earn up to $20,000 per application, up to a total $50,000 for the year. Funding comes from the Harbor Lodging Tax Fund, which is raised through taxes on hotels and motels inside city limits.
