Gig Harbor Trolley Summer Service Returns On June 13

The route will run between the historic downtown Gig Harbor waterfront district, Harbor Hill and the Uptown shopping district. Trolleys will run every 30 minutes and connect with other routes at the Kimball Park & Ride.

Trolley fare is $.50 per ride for adults (age 19 and up) and youth (ages 6-18), and rides are free for children age five and under. The service is also free for seniors and persons with disabilities with presentation of a Regional Reduced Fare Permit (RRFP). Adults and youth may purchase a Pierce Transit All Day Pass for just $1 when purchased onboard the Trolley. ORCA cards, valid passes and One Ride Tickets may also be used for payment. Trolley hours are:

• Weekdays: 11:10 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
• Saturdays: 10:40 a.m. to 9:24 p.m.
• Sundays: 12:10 p.m. to 6:32 p.m.

“After more than a year of having to cancel many of the special events and services Pierce Transit usually provides to our community, it will be a joy to bring the Gig Harbor Trolley back this summer,” said Pierce Transit CEO Sue Dreier. “The Trolley is the perfect example of a successful public/private partnership, and the timing to kick it off this year is just right as our county and state begin reopening following the pandemic.”

Riders are encouraged to use a bus locator app, such as the Transit app, to locate the next Trolley, plan a trip or check bus capacity alerts. Trolleys are limited to 13 passengers at a time in accordance with current Washington state COVID-19 transit guidelines. Should state guidelines change with the state’s anticipated reopening, Pierce Transit will adjust Trolley passenger limits accordingly. Per federal regulations, masks are required onboard and some seats are marked off to maintain social distancing onboard. Pierce Transit has special COVID-19 cleaning protocols in place to keep Trolley customers and drivers safe, and trolleys are cleaned and disinfected daily. The trolleys have racks that hold bikes, so riders are encouraged to bring their bike along and for a multi-modal commute.
