Semi Was Speeding Before Crash That Closed I-5: WSP
The crash happened Tuesday morning around 3:30 a.m. near SR 16, according to Washington State Patrol.

TACOMA, WA - A crash in Tacoma involving a jackknifed semitrailer shut down I-5 at SR 16 early Tuesday morning. The freeway reopened just after 8 a.m., but the crash caused backups throughout the south sound.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. The semi spilled a large amount of diesel fuel across the road, prolonging the cleanup. There were no injuries reported related to the crash, however.
The driver of the semi, Manpreet Singh, 29, of Livingston, Calif., was speeding, according to Washington State Patrol. He was cited for second-degree negligent driving.

The accident happened along a stretch of I-5 that's part of WSDOT HOV lane construction. This was the eighth semi crash in the same area near SR 16 in six months, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.
