Lacey Foy, 8, Dies After Near-Drowning At Gig Harbor YMCA

The second-grader had been in a coma since Saturday.

GIG HARBOR, WA - The 8-year-old girl who was found unresponsive in a pool at the Tom Taylor YMCA on Saturday has died, her family's pastor has announced. Lacey Foy, a second-grader at Evergreen Elementary in Lakebay, had been in a coma at Mary Bridge hospital in Tacoma since the incident.

"Sadly, after a few days on life support at Mary Bridge Hospital in Tacoma, little Lacey passed away this morning (03/21/2018) surrounded by her family including parents, Adam and Sydney," a friend of the Foy family wrote on Lacey's YouCaring fundraiser page.

Foy was swimming in a shallow pool at the YMCA Saturday afternoon when she was found unresponsive. The Peninsula School District in a statement Tuesday said that Foy had a seizure disorder that may have contributed to the incident.
