If you were in Downtown Gig Harbor on Saturday, you might have noticed that the community was throwing a little shindig.
The community kicked off its annual Maritime Gig Festival, and festival-goers converged on the city's waterfront.
They ate pancakes at the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, took in local vendors and, of course, celebrated the Yo Ho Harbor Grand Parade.
During the parade, scowling pirates trudged up and down Harborview Drive, entertaining the sea of people who lined the sidewalks. People from countless floats handed out candy. Those on floats offered smiles and waves.
Afterward, visitors enjoyed some of the cuisine offered by local vendors. They learned about the community's fishing history and celebrated a classic yacht festival.
Then, toward the end of the night, they ate, danced and laughed the night away to live entertainment.
And that was just Day One of the Maritime Gig Festival.
