Peninsula School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula is August 30 for grades 1-12 and September 5 for kindergarten. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Peninsula School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

August

• 8/22 - 8/24: Staff In-Service Days
• 8/30: First Day of School for Grades 1-12, No Late Start Wednesday

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/5: First Day of School for Kindergarten

October

• 10/18: No Late Start Wednesday

November

• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/18 - 1/1: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)
• 1/24: No School for Elementary and Middle School Students (Staff In-Service Day)

February

• 2/19 - 2/23: No School (Mid-Winter Break)

March

• 3/16: No School for High School Students (Staff In-Service Day)

April

• 4/16 - 4/20: No School (Spring Break)

May

• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/19: Last Day of School, Early Release
• 6/20 - 6/22: Possible Snow Make-Up Days
