Pierce County Asks For Input On Tacoma Narrows Airport Changes

The county says they want the public to weigh in on some proposed changes to expand and improve the airport.

GIG HARBOR, WA — Pierce County is asking neighbors to weigh in on some proposed changes to the Tacoma Narrows Airport.

According to the county, a master plan for the airport was finalized back in 2015, but as the demand for flights has grown significantly over the past half decade, some changes are in order to keep the Tacoma Narrows Airport running safely.

In particular, the county has launched a landside planning study to determine how they should change the layout of the airport— and how they could potentially expand into the space surrounding the airport to make room for more hangers, parking and other facilities.

The County has created a virtual open house video, explaining the need for change and providing several solutions:

Now, their asking neighbors to weigh those options and have their voices heard. Community members have until October 13 to review the proposals and submit their feedback.
