LAKEWOOD, WA — Anyone who is struggling with rent or mortgage in Lakewood will want to take advantage of the city's rent assistance program before it goes away later this month.

The program offers renters in need a one-time payment of up to $4,000, but will stop accepting applications on May 15, so anyone interested in reaping that benefit should do so now.

  • Make 80 percent or less than the area median income.
  • Have a current, valid lease.
  • Have proof that you lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
