Clover Park Schools Will Continue To Provide Meals For Students
Many families rely on school support to help keep children fed. Here's how the district is helping amid the pandemic.
LAKEWOOD, WA — The coronavirus pandemic has proposed a number of unique challenges for Washington's schools and families: remote learning can be difficult for lower-income families who may not have the tools to access the internet, and many families rely on support from schools to keep their children fed.
To help those families out, the Clover Park School district says they will continue to provide meals to students, despite the fact that classrooms will remain closed when the school year begins next month.
Here's a complete list of all Clover Park Schools offering daily meals:

The meals are not entirely free, but will come at a reduced price: the district says a federal waiver that earlier allowed them to serve meals free of charge has expired, meaning they will have to charge for food during the 2020-21 school year. Under a reduced payment plan for lower income families, that means breakfast and snacks will remain free, but school lunches will cost 40 cents. Additionally, students at Custer, Four Heroes, Lakeview, Lochburn, Park Lodge, Tillicum and Tyee Park schools will not have to pay for lunches, as those seven schools have received extra support funding.
