Crash, Car Fire Blocks I-5 At 512 Interchange, 1 Injured
Firefighters say at least one car ended up engulfed in flames as a result of the crash.
LAKEWOOD, WA — A pileup car crash is fully blocking the I-5 interchange with westbound State Route 512 in Lakewood, and may continue to do so for some time.
West Pierce fire reported the crash around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to firefighters, one of the involved vehicles ended up engulfed in flames. Their crews also had to take one patient to the hospital, where they are reportedly in critical condition.

Crashes on and around I-5 have a tendency to cause nasty, lingering backups, so firefighters are urging drivers to try and use alternate routes through the area for the remainder of the afternoon.
As of 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, the road has been reopened, but lingering backups may remain through the evening.
