Harrison Preparatory School will hold a community service day presentation on Monday, June 3 at 6 p.m. at the Lakes High School’s Performing Arts Center, 10320 Farwest Drive Southwest in Lakewood. The event features Harrison Prep’s “Week Without Walls” program and showcases the school’s community service groups and their projects. Each group will have a speaker briefly explain the projects followed by a short video produced by the Documentarians group, whose student members document other groups’ activities.
Harrison Prep’s Week Without Walls community service project is unique. The community service groups this year include: Elementary Mentors (who mentor students at district elementary schools); Relay for Life; Arts and Quilting; Harrison Prep Cleanup and Recycling; Restoring Puget Creek; Trail and Beach Cleanup; Preventing Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying; Caring for Kids; Broken Bikes; and Documentarians. Since 2005, Harrison Prep has held the community service projects, which complement the International Baccalaureate World School curriculum.
