Niombi Howell is the founder and owner of the vegan restaurant Quickie Too, a Black-owned, family-run restaurant that pulls inspiration for its dishes from travel and experimentation.

Howell, a vegan of more than 31 years, has been in the Hilltop community since 1972. She saw the need for change and wanted to give her community a taste of something different. She realized that the people around her were suffering due to their food choices and poor lifestyle habits and decided to open a vegan restaurant to help.
Founded in the early ’90s, Quickie Too has stood the test of time and remains a local favorite, serving creative dishes that are packed with flavor and love.
LOCAL HERO
Larry Woods is a Lakewood resident and retired airman from Joint Base Lewis-McChord. After serving for two honorable decades in the U.S. Air Force, Woods invested his time, talents and expertise into Lakewood community. He volunteers as president of the Lake City Neighborhood Association and serves as one of the board members of the Lakewood African American Police Advisory Committee. As an elder in his local church, Woods engages in multigenerational mentorship, service and counseling for many people. He lives by this quote, “I love people, I love my community and I am willing to act. All the glory belongs to God.”
