I-5 Project Will Impede Traffic Flow In Lakewood Friday Night

Traffic flow along Interstate-5 north and south will be reduced to one lane at the Thorne Lane overpass between Friday and Saturday.

LAKEWOOD, WA — Ahead of the first Thorne Lake overpass bridge girder installation scheduled for Friday, northbound commuters along Interstate-5 will see the exit ramp to 41st Division Drive closed between 8:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. on June 25, 26, and 27.

On June 28, I-5 in both directions will be reduced to a single lane that will be detoured up and over the Thorne Lane off- and on-ramps between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The closures, lane reductions, and detours are all to accommodate an ongoing widening project that will eventually see both north and southbound I-5 increased to four lanes, and a new overpass installed just north of the existing Thorne Lane overpass, which will allow traffic along Thorne Lane to pass safely above train traffic.
