Idlewild Elementary's Troy Williams Named Student Ambassador To Alaska
The fifth-grader was selected as a People to People Student Ambassador to Alaska. He will visit Alaska July 2-13.

Idlewild Elementary fifth-grader Troy Williams was selected as a People to People Student Ambassador to Alaska. Williams will visit Alaska July 2-13.
He received three recommendations from staff members and participated in an interview before the selection. He has attended workshops and learned all he can about Alaska. He also wants to build his leadership skills.
Williams said he’s excited about the trip.
“I’m really anxious to meet the residents and see all the snow and wildlife in Alaska!” he said.
People to People Student Ambassadors learn about other cultures, explore historic places, engage in fun activities, and meet local citizens. It teaches the students leadership skills, independence and an understanding of different cultures.Ambassadors work closely with their delegation teacher to achieve academic excellence, while the travel experience provides a unique personal-growth opportunity. The ambassador program is open to students who apply and pass the interview process.
