LAKEWOOD, WA — The investigation continues into a double shooting that locked up I-5 for much of the afternoon in Lakewood Wednesday.

Thursday morning WSP released a few new details on their investigation, including that the suspected shooter and first victim were inside the same car. Investigators say the first victim, a woman, had been driving when a man, her passenger, opened fire on her.

Afterwards the woman pulled to the shoulder of the road, and was able to run to a group of witnesses who got her to safety.

When WSP arrived, a sergeant approached the man who reportedly told the trooper that he had just been in jail, and didn't want to go back. During their altercation the suspect reportedly pointed his gun at himself and the trooper, but the trooper determined that the gun was jammed, knocked it away from the suspect and wrestled him to the ground.

It is still unclear how the second shooting victim, a man, was injured. WSP says the investigation is ongoing, and they hope to release more soon.
