This week will mark a decade after the U.S. attacked Baghdad. Between then and the war's official end in December 2011, the U.S. military suffered 4,480 deaths and 32,000 wounded.

Question: Ten years after its start, how did the Iraq War change you?
USA Today had an interesting piece over the weekend about how this week marks the 10-year anniversary of the start of the Iraq War, and how many consider it a costly mistake.
Specifically, the article mentions how between the day U.S. forces attacked Baghdad and the war's official end in December 2011, the U.S. military suffered 4,480 deaths and 32,000 wounded.

That's a number of significance at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, where many who served in Iraq were stationed. Many of the families who kissed their loved ones goodbye for one-, maybe two-year deployments live in the South Sound. And yes, many of the flag-draped caskets that carried home the bodies of those killed in battle arrived home at JBLM.

The base itself has changed. Back in 2003, JBLM was still Fort Lewis and McChord Air Force Base.
And undoubtedly, the people who are tied to this base undoubtedly have been affected one way or another since the Iraq War began.
