JBLM Announces Demolitions Training Beginning Later This Week

If you live near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, expect a little extra noise this week.

LAKEWOOD, WA — Residents of Lakewood who live near Joint Base Lewis-McChord will want to prepare for some extra noise this week.

The base announced Monday that JBLM units will be running training day and night from 6:30 a.m. Tuesday through 10 p.m. on Friday. The training will include demotions, which as longtime residents are no doubt aware, can cause some noise for the surrounding area.

The base conducts demolitions training less frequently than artillery or mortar training. Like artillery training, ordinances are detonated at the designated "artillery impact area" on JBLM's main campus.
