JBLM To Detonate Unexploded Ordinance Through Friday

If you hear some strange noises coming from the base this week, that's not artillery.

LAKEWOOD, WA — Anyone who lives in Lakewood is no doubt aware that the artillery and mortar training at Joint Base Lewis-McChord can cause some serious noise.

But while those noises are pretty common, the sounds residents will hear this week will be a little bit different. That's because, instead of regular old training, this week they're detonating old unexploded ordinances as part of a program to clean up the base's training range.

The base says to expect one or more explosion each day Wednesday through Friday. The detonations should all take place during the daytime.
