Lakewood City Hall Reopens
As of Thursday, Lakewood City Hall has reopened to the public - though appointments may be required for some in-person services.

LAKEWOOD, WA — After 15 months in pandemic lockdown, Lakewood City Hall has reopened for in-person services.
Starting Thursday, city hall will be open 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays, though the city does note that some services still require appointments. Utility payments, select permit applications, and public records requests can still be filed online through the city's website.
Thursday's reopening is not exactly the first time the public has been allowed back inside Lakewood City Hall — over the weekend the city converted City Hall Council Chambers into a cooling center to help the public ward off the record-breaking heat wave.

The City of Lakewood is just the latest in a series of Pierce County government operations that are coming back to work in-person. Wednesday, the City of Puyallup announced it would reopen its city hall starting July 7. Monday, the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department and Pierce County Auditor's Office announced they were resuming in-person services as well.
Lakewood's announcement also follows the economic reopening of Washington state. As of Wednesday, Washington has lifted almost all remaining COVID-19 restrictions, freeing up places like Puyallup City Hall to get back to work in-person.
